Bread Lines

Then

And Now

Back during the depression, people stood in food lines for hours to get a bowl of soup, cup of coffee, a cabbage, loaf of bread, and whatever was being offered.

Today we have all kinds of government food giveaway programs and yet people line up in their nice cars to get all kinds of giveaways including food provided by private organizations, churches, and charities. And there are people there to load it for them. Bags and boxes of stuff.

Some of the cars have nice sun roofs and Sirrus atennas (may or may not have service). May not be this year’s models, but look fairly new. Eqipped I’m sure with heat and AC.

What a difference from standing in line in shoes with holes and threadbare coats.
